Community Fellowship

The 2013-14 school year was the first year that Apps and Maps organized ongoing, after-school internship activities, in addition to weekend events and the ongoing design-focused outreach to the Temple University student-community. We:

  1. host a Hackathon event in partnership with AT&T and Technically Philly, that was open to the greater Philadelphia community and developed public education-based projects;
  2. develop current projects at an Open House Showcase;
  3. worked with local Philadelphia schools and community organizations to recruit, interview, and hire community members for the summer 2014 fellowship positions;
  4. planned curriculum for the summer fellowship programming including the development of project ideas to work on with youth, and procurement of all resources, technology and space needed,
  5. recruited Temple University mentors, coding Instructors and development of coding curriculum;
  6. developed of training curriculum for mentor staff;
  7. continued work on ongoing projects;
  8. interviewed and hired the Program Coordinator position.
